Mateus Dante tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 11 minutes into the match, Sporting ES's goal looked a bit too open when Abel Capixaba came free, but Antônio Carlos Saraiva reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 15th minute, Isaltino Pereira made a precise shot to the right of Mateus Dante. Posses SC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. When Sporting ES's Augusto Freitas in the 18th minute got a chance for a shot 18th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Hílton Pinheiro was shown his second yellow card after 44 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Hílton Pinheiro hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Cleiton Teixeira made a kick off. Abelardo Mello sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Márcio Torres managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sporting ES's supporters rose to their feet, but Márcio Torres was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mateus Dante breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 62nd play minute Hílton Melo came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Mateus Dante. 1-3. After having played for 66 minutes, Márcio Torres managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sporting ES's supporters crossed their fingers, but Márcio Torres was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Hílton Melo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mateus Dante having to interfere. In the 70th match minute, Posses SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kléberson Hoffmann to maneuver through the defense. Hílton Melo's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 72ndth minute, Mateus Dante skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Hílton Melo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Mateus Dante tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Valdir Borges had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With his leg Mateus Dante managed to avoid a goal in the 90thth minute, when Sporting ES's Hílton Melo fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Márcio Torres sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Márcio Torres came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Sporting ES fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Márcio Torres couldn't finish the play. Hílton Melo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The Posses SC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Sporting ES were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
