The supporters of Irapiranga booed when Terra was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Delfim de Queirós didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Terra's zone, Juarês Mesquita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Reinaldo Freire came out of the goal and Juarês Mesquita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 20 minutes into the game, Basílio de Lara cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Leopoldo da Silva was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Irapiranga's supporters rose to their feet, but Juarês Mesquita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Reinaldo Freire breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Basílio de Lara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. If Alberto Linhares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The wind increased when Alberto Linhares made the kick off in the second half. Ricardo Velloso recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 51st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Terra's Delfim de Queirós got a free kick in the 54th minute. Terra's Alberto Linhares got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 63 minutes into the game, Irapiranga's Duda Cordeiro nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Reinaldo Freire made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. Basílio de Lara was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 66th minute. Terra's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. A hard shot 66 in the game by Alberto Linhares from a close distance when the talented Leopoldo da Silva managed to make a qualified save. Irapiranga's players were relieved. After a defensive mix-up in Irapiranga's zone, Basílio de Lara stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Leopoldo da Silva came out of the goal and Basílio de Lara tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 74 played minutes Irapiranga got a freekick which was hit by Juarês Mesquita. Leopoldo da Silva made a fantastic save in the 78th minute, when Alberto Linhares sent off a good shot on target. In the 82nd minute Basílio de Lara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leopoldo da Silva saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alberto Linhares took the ball and in the 84 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Leopoldo da Silva. Leopoldo da Silva dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-4. Miguel Proença hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. Basílio de Lara sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 93 minutes into the game, Miguel Proença was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Irapiranga's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Terra the free kick. After 93 played minutes Irapiranga got a freekick which was hit by Miguel Proença. Leopoldo da Silva didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alberto Linhares went, in the 97th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-5 was the resulting score. Terra's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
