Luiz Eduardo Vargas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Abelardo Costa in the 4th minute of the match. Abelardo Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Eriberto Jacinto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Guaicara's zone, Abelardo Costa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luiz Eduardo Vargas came out of the goal and Abelardo Costa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Eriberto Jacinto in the 12th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Luiz Eduardo Vargas prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Sílvio Alves made a fantastic save in the 16th minute, when Fabrício Martins sent off a good shot on target. 17 minutes into the game, Álvaro Motta was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Zanette's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Guaicara the free kick. Álvaro Motta hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. If Chiquinho Lago had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fabrício Martins fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sílvio Alves having to interfere. Abelardo Costa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Álvaro Motta might have been able to make a better finish in the 36th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luiz Eduardo Vargas. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Álvaro Motta ran back to his position shaking his head. 37 minutes into the match, Zanette's Abelardo Costa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Luiz Eduardo Vargas narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Luiz Eduardo Vargas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eriberto Jacinto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 47 minutes into the match, Guaicara's goal looked a bit too open when Abelardo Costa came free, but Luiz Eduardo Vargas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Abelardo Costa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Guaicara getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Sidney Tavares hit a great ball. Álvaro Motta hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. Sílvio Alves stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Chiquinho Lago's shot from short distance in the 62nd minute. When Felipe Brodel fell near the penalty area in the 63rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Zanette's protests and gave Felipe Brodel a yellow card for diving instead. After 63 played minutes Zanette got a freekick which was hit by Felipe Brodel. In the 69th match minute, Zanette was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Patrick Favoretto to maneuver through the defense. Fabrício Martins fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sílvio Alves having to interfere. Abelardo Costa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Luiz Eduardo Vargas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 80th minute of the game. One of Guaicara:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Zanette:s goal. The referee gave Zanette a penalty, 83 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Jano Pena, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Guaicara's Luiz Eduardo Vargas. 0-1. Jano Pena took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 92nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Luiz Eduardo Vargas. Guaicara's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Abelardo Costa in the 96th minute of play forced Guaicara's goalkeeper Luiz Eduardo Vargas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Zanette's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
