The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Currais SS booed when Araioses AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Franklin Massa didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee ignored Araioses AD's protests and gave Luan Eger a yellow card for diving instead. Antônio Carlos Salgado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rubinho Dracena, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Vito Peixoto in the 51st minute of play forced Araioses AD's goalkeeper Antônio Carlos Salgado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
