With 3 minutes on the clock, Marcel Valadares commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 3rd minute of the game. One of Cazuza FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Pinhao FC:s goal. Alfredo Pontes placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! After a rather tough play, Cazuza FC's Kiko Zonta got a free kick in the 7th minute. Luizinho Saldanha showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ademir Carioca in the 15th minute of the match. In the 19th minute, Wesley Moreira left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Cazuza FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. After having played for 23 minutes, Umberto Bertassi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pinhao FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Umberto Bertassi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Marcos de Toledo came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Pinhao FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marcos de Toledo couldn't finish the play. When Ademir Carioca fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Pinhao FC's protests and gave Ademir Carioca a yellow card for diving instead. Ademir Carioca hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. Amílton Fernandez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wesley Moreira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match had gone on for 38 minutes, Wesley Moreira put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Amílton Fernandez. After a rather tough play, Pinhao FC's Deivid Toledo got a free kick in the 42nd minute. 46 minutes into the match, Marcos de Toledo notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Cazuza FC's Luizinho Saldanha. Luizinho Saldanha was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ademir Carioca to make the kick off. In the 53rd minute of the match Alfredo Pontes sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Luizinho Saldanha skillfully saved the ball. After 55 played minutes Pinhao FC got a freekick which was hit by Deivid Toledo. Marcos de Toledo might have been able to make a better finish in the 57th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luizinho Saldanha. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Marcos de Toledo ran back to his position shaking his head. Eugênio Queiroz kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. 63 minutes into the game, Pinhao FC's Marcos de Toledo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Luizinho Saldanha made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. Magno de Sena hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. If Marcos de Toledo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luizinho Saldanha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marcos de Toledo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 77th minute Ademir Carioca shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luizinho Saldanha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pinhao FC's Amílton Fernandez proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 78th minute of the match, managed to save Pinhao FC from getting a goal against them. With a little luck, Pinhao FC's Amílton Fernandez got control of the ball when Wesley Moreira tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Pinhao FC booed when Cazuza FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eugênio Queiroz didn't get a good kick on the ball. 89 minutes into the match, Ademir Carioca had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Luizinho Saldanha. Cazuza FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ademir Carioca was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. In the 94th minute the ball was on its way in behind Cazuza FC's goalkeeper Luizinho Saldanha, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the referee ended the match the Pinhao FC players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
