Gildo Montenegro's late challenge caught a Branco FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gildo Montenegro helped the player get up and apologised. After 3 played minutes Bahia A.D. 2000 got a freekick which was hit by Gildo Montenegro. After 7 minutes, Vitório Moura mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Bahia A.D. 2000 and the Branco FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 6 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Bahia A.D. 2000! In the 8th minute there was a penalty for Branco FC. Matheus Coutinho stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Thomás França. 0-1. Thomás França took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vicente Vidal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 17 minutes, Matheus Coutinho mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Branco FC and the Bahia A.D. 2000 players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 17th match minute, Branco FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Matheus Coutinho to maneuver through the defense. Antônio Carlos Silva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from João Paulo de Toledo in the 20th minute of play. Vicente Vidal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Thomás França tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jorge Cruz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Antônio Carlos Silva having to interfere. In the 30th match minute, Branco FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dorian Cardozo to maneuver through the defense. Antônio Carlos Silva showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from João Paulo de Toledo in the 31st minute of the match. Nilton Botelho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thomás França having to interfere. Thomás França took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nilton Botelho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 46 minutes into the match, Jorge Cruz notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Branco FC's Antônio Carlos Silva. Antônio Carlos Silva was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. João Paulo de Toledo was the one to do the kick off. João Paulo de Toledo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 58thth minute of the game João Paulo de Toledo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Branco FC's Antônio Carlos Silva was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 60 minutes into the game, one of Branco FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave Bahia A.D. 2000 a penalty, 63 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Vitório Moura, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Branco FC's Antônio Carlos Silva. 2-1. If Vicente Vidal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 77th minute, Vicente Vidal got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Branco FC's Dorian Cardozo got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Bahia A.D. 2000:s Thomás França showed great skill when he stopped Matheus Coutinho:s penalty. Antônio Carlos Silva showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from João Paulo de Toledo, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. Gildo Montenegro got his second yellow card in the match during the 101st minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Bahia A.D. 2000's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
