The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Hudson Proença fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dadá Botelho having to interfere. After 20 played minutes Jequie SS got a freekick which was hit by Tiago Cruz. In the 27th minute the ball was on its way in behind Jequie SS's goalkeeper Leonel Pires, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 28th match minute, Ingleses Esporte Clube was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Patrick Vinhas to maneuver through the defense. When the match had been going on for 32 minutes, Jequie SS's Laércio Barros got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Dadá Botelho. After 35th play minutes Jarbas Penha shot 2-0, a short shot which went by Dadá Botelho and just under the crossbar into goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nilton Leal to make the kick off. Jequie SS's Jarbas Penha got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Laércio Barros in the 71st minute of play forced Ingleses Esporte Clube's goalkeeper Dadá Botelho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dadá Botelho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hudson Proença, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Donatello Rezende came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the Ingleses Esporte Clube fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Donatello Rezende couldn't finish the play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nilton Leal in the 81st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Leonel Pires saved Jequie SS from getting behind. A hard shot by Tomás Pinho from long distance, 83 minutes into the match, got Leonel Pires's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Dadá Botelho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hudson Proença in the 87th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nilton Leal in the 90th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Leonel Pires saved Jequie SS from getting behind.
