With a little luck, Espinosa's Yuri Maia got control of the ball when Jânio Perez tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 5th minute, Geovani Freitas made a precise shot to the right of Yuri Maia. Espinosa's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Yuri Maia made a fantastic save in the 9th minute, when Jânio Perez sent off a good shot on target. Yuri Maia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sidnei Dionísio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Yuri Maia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sidnei Dionísio in the 16th minute of the match. In the 19th match minute, Amarantina was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cleiton Penha to maneuver through the defense. In the 23rd minute, Marcinho Paulista ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Joaquim Pereira was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Espinosa's Yuri Maia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sidnei Dionísio in the 26th minute of play. Clóvis Mendonça charged in rather forcefully in the 27th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Clóvis Mendonça the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 27 played minutes Espinosa got a freekick which was hit by Clóvis Mendonça. Espinosa's Yuri Maia proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 29th minute of the match, managed to save Espinosa from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sidnei Dionísio in the 30th minute of play forced Espinosa's goalkeeper Yuri Maia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 31st minute, one of Espinosa:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Espinosa. 35 minutes into the match, Espinosa's goal looked a bit too open when Sidnei Dionísio came free, but Yuri Maia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 36 minutes into the match, Espinosa's goalkeeper Yuri Maia had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jânio Perez. Marcinho Paulista received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Joaquim Pereira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Marcinho Paulista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sidnei Dionísio to make the kick off. Joaquim Pereira made a fantastic save in the 52nd minute, when Marcinho Paulista sent off a good shot on target. Yuri Maia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sidnei Dionísio in the 56th minute of play. Yuri Maia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jânio Perez, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. Marcinho Paulista ran back to his position shaking his head. Vitinho Tróia kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. Clóvis Mendonça hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Geovani Freitas in the 79th minute of play forced Espinosa's goalkeeper Yuri Maia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 81st minute, Léo da Silva hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 82nd minute Sidnei Dionísio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Yuri Maia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 85th minute, Marcinho Paulista left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Espinosa fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. In the 90th minute Geovani Freitas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Yuri Maia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 90 minutes into the match, Geovani Freitas notched a goal, 3-2, to the right of Espinosa's Yuri Maia. Yuri Maia was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 93 minutes into the match, Espinosa's goal looked a bit too open when Jânio Perez came free, but Yuri Maia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Amarantina fans cheered their team off the field, for while Espinosa had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
