An unexpectedly hard shot by Falcão Medeiros in the 3rd minute of play forced Fortaleza's goalkeeper Felipe Brasil to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Régis de Almeida during the 3rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Fortaleza's Régis de Almeida got a free kick in the 4th minute. 11 minutes into the game, Falcão Medeiros cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Felipe Brasil was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. João Carlos da Costa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Felipe Brasil tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 17 minutes into the game, Rafael Cearense was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Juaba AD's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Fortaleza the free kick. In the 19th minute of the match Romeu Rezende shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ediberto Valadares showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. César Cosme fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ediberto Valadares having to interfere. Ediberto Valadares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Henrique Matorin, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. 26 minutes into the game, Falcão Medeiros cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Felipe Brasil was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ulisses Bezerra's late challenge caught a Fortaleza's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ulisses Bezerra helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Fortaleza booed when Juaba AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ulisses Bezerra didn't get a good kick on the ball. 31 minutes into the match, Fortaleza's Romeu Rezende broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. César Cosme sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 35 minutes into the match, Juaba AD's goal looked a bit too open when Henrique Matorin came free, but Ediberto Valadares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Juaba AD's Ediberto Valadares proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 36th minute of the match, managed to save Juaba AD from getting a goal against them. César Cosme's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Ediberto Valadares firmly grabbed it by the left post. Ediberto Valadares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Henrique Matorin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. César Cosme took the ball and in the 41 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ediberto Valadares. Ediberto Valadares dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when César Cosme got free with Ediberto Valadares in the 45th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The audience was convinced that Henrique Matorin's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ediberto Valadares was relentless in the 46th minute of the game.

In the 53rd match minute, Juaba AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ulisses Bezerra to maneuver through the defense. After 54 played minutes, Fortaleza's Romeu Rezende shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Ediberto Valadares came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Fortaleza reached it. Manolo Mattos's late challenge caught a Juaba AD's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Manolo Mattos helped the player get up and apologised. After 56 played minutes Fortaleza got a freekick which was hit by Manolo Mattos. After a defensive mix-up in Fortaleza's zone, Rafael Cearense stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Felipe Brasil came out of the goal and Rafael Cearense tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Henrique Matorin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Ediberto Valadares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 63 minutes into the game, Fortaleza's César Cosme nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ediberto Valadares made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. When César Cosme came up free with the goalie in the 68th minute, the Fortaleza fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that César Cosme couldn't finish the play. When Fortaleza's Henrique Matorin in the 70th minute got a chance for a shot 70th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Juaba AD's goalie prevented a goal. After 70 played minutes Juaba AD got a freekick which was hit by Ademar Ortiz. César Cosme fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ediberto Valadares having to interfere. Gabriel Torres hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. In the 88th minute of the match, Falcão Medeiros tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Felipe Brasil saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Fortaleza's César Cosme got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. César Cosme struck a weak shot in the 96th minute. Ediberto Valadares didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fortaleza.
