Ediberto Valadares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Osvaldo Nóbrega in the 36th minute of play. João Carlos da Costa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Barborema's Rodriguinho Cardoso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Falcão Medeiros in the 41st minute of play. Juaba AD's João Carlos da Costa got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Falcão Medeiros made a kick off. If João Carlos da Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. After 97 played minutes Juaba AD got a freekick which was hit by João Carlos da Costa. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Juaba AD players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
