The referee ignored vasco fds's protests and gave Luís Fernando Mandrak a yellow card for diving instead. In the 31st match minute, vasco fds was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luís Fernando Mandrak to maneuver through the defense. Cafu Maciel could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 32nd minute of the match, but Iuri de Lima made a huge save. After 33 played minutes vasco fds got a freekick which was hit by Luís Fernando Mandrak. Celso Ramos's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 34thth minute, Iuri de Lima skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Angelo Branco blasted a shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Delmiro Swett having to make a save. In the 40th minute the ball was on its way in behind Vae Victis!'s goalkeeper Delmiro Swett, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. José Coutinho charged in rather forcefully in the 47th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed José Coutinho the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The Vae Victis! players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. vasco fds were winning 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Dinei de Barros stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Vae Victis! booed when vasco fds was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dinei de Barros didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dinei de Barros in the 65th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Delmiro Swett saved Vae Victis! from getting behind. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luís Fernando Mandrak got free with Delmiro Swett in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ulisses Leão kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. A collision led to Vae Victis! getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Ulisses Leão hit a great ball. When the match had gone on for 71 minutes, Luís Fernando Mandrak took a quick shot and it went in 1-3 without a chance for Delmiro Swett to make any attempt to save it. Dinei de Barros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Delmiro Swett tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Iuri de Lima made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Antônio Carlos Vieira in the 79th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Vae Victis!'s Paulo Martins got a free kick in the 83rd minute. Paulo Martins kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. vasco fds's Dinei de Barros got a good chance for a goal in the 87th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 91 minutes into the game, Antônio Carlos Vieira cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-3. Iuri de Lima was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. vasco fds walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
