In the 6th match minute, Marabitanas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ramiro Pernambucano to maneuver through the defense. 9 minutes into the match, Betão Soeiro had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gláuber Cabral. Marabitanas's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Betão Soeiro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. In the 14th minute, Luiz Fábio Gaspar hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 15th match minute, Botumirim was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cauã Moraes to maneuver through the defense. 16 minutes into the game, Marabitanas's Luiz Fábio Gaspar nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Pedro Luís Freitas made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. After having played for 19 minutes, Vivaldo Alvarenga managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Marabitanas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vivaldo Alvarenga was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Pedro Luís Freitas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Erasmo do Nascimento, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. With a little luck, Marabitanas's Gláuber Cabral got control of the ball when Armando Veiga tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 32 played minutes Marabitanas got a freekick which was hit by Luiz Fábio Gaspar. Gláuber Cabral made a fantastic save in the 36th minute, when Armando Veiga sent off a good shot on target. When Luizão Medeiros came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Botumirim fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luizão Medeiros couldn't finish the play. After 41 played minutes, Marabitanas's José Maria Miranda shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Pedro Luís Freitas came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Marabitanas reached it. Gláuber Cabral made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luizão Medeiros in the 45th minute of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Luiz Fábio Gaspar made the kick off in the second half. Vivaldo Alvarenga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Marabitanas's zone, Luizão Medeiros stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gláuber Cabral came out of the goal and Luizão Medeiros tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Erasmo do Nascimento charged in rather forcefully in the 60th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Erasmo do Nascimento the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 60 played minutes Marabitanas got a freekick which was hit by Erasmo do Nascimento. The referee felt a red card was in order, 63 minutes into the game, when Leonardo de Andrade put in a rough tackle. After a rather tough play, Marabitanas's Leonardo de Andrade got a free kick in the 64th minute. Gláuber Cabral took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Armando Veiga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Marabitanas's Gláuber Cabral played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Armando Veiga in the 70th minute of play. After 75th play minutes Armando Veiga shot 2-1, a short shot which went by Gláuber Cabral and just under the crossbar into goal. Pedro Luís Freitas made a fantastic save in the 87th minute, when Vivaldo Alvarenga sent off a good shot on target. If Vivaldo Alvarenga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gláuber Cabral showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Armando Veiga in the 91st minute of the match. In the 92nd minute, Armando Veiga ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gláuber Cabral was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Botumirim fully deserved thier win.
