Dieguinho Oliveira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dorival Viana having to interfere. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Dorival Viana took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gerson Secco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Montesina's zone, Gerson Secco stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dorival Viana came out of the goal and Gerson Secco tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Zézinho Cruz succeeded in the game's 65th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-1. Dieguinho Oliveira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 79 played minutes Montesina got a freekick which was hit by Zé Roberto Arruda. Dorival Viana showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gerson Secco, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. The Adalberto Bastos was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. When Montesina's Zézinho Cruz in the 95th minute got a chance for a shot 95th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Montesina had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
