Spectators: 6432 (Terracing: 4625, Seating: 1664, VIP seats: 143) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Bruninho de Toledo started the match with the kick off. After some careless play in the Araguaina SS defense, Rodrigo Montenegro kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Pedrinho Chaves. The Araguaina SS fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Pedrinho Chaves should have stopped the shot. In the 8thth minute of the game Osvaldo Ferraz who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Tafu's Bebeto Vieira was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 10th minute, Sandrinho Soeiro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Bebeto Vieira was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Joélson Félix's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Pedrinho Chaves firmly grabbed it by the left post. Bebeto Vieira stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sandrinho Soeiro's shot from short distance in the 17th minute. When the match clock showed 19 minutes, the score became 1-2 when Osvaldo Ferraz sped through Tafu's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Bebeto Vieira. An unexpectedly hard shot by Osvaldo Ferraz in the 25th minute of play forced Tafu's goalkeeper Bebeto Vieira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Elder Veloso fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Araguaina SS's protests and gave Elder Veloso a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Tafu booed when Araguaina SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Elder Veloso didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 27th match minute, Tafu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bruninho de Toledo to maneuver through the defense. The audience was convinced that Sandrinho Soeiro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Bebeto Vieira was relentless in the 28th minute of the game. In the 29th minute, one of Araguaina SS:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Araguaina SS. When the match had been going on for 32 minutes, Tafu's Dráusio Furlan got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Pedrinho Chaves. Joélson Félix was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 38th minute. Tafu's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. After 39 played minutes Araguaina SS got a freekick which was hit by Léo Matorin. After having played for 44 minutes, Joélson Félix managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tafu's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joélson Félix was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Araguaina SS getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Pedro Luiz Andrade hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 48th minute, Joélson Félix managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tafu's supporters rose to their feet, but Joélson Félix was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pedrinho Chaves breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Osvaldo Ferraz made the kick off in the second half. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Osvaldo Ferraz in the 53rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Bebeto Vieira prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bruninho de Toledo in the 57th minute of play forced Araguaina SS's goalkeeper Pedrinho Chaves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 58 minutes into the match, Araguaina SS's goal looked a bit too open when Bruninho de Toledo came free, but Pedrinho Chaves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Araguaina SS getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Basílio Ceresso hit a great ball. Pedrinho Chaves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rodrigo Montenegro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Léo Matorin kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. Joélson Félix struck a weak shot in the 68th minute. Pedrinho Chaves didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tafu. After a rather tough play, Tafu's Cássio Machado got a free kick in the 81st minute. In the 84th minute the ball was on its way in behind Tafu's goalkeeper Bebeto Vieira, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Pedro Luiz Andrade had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 91 minutes, Basílio Ceresso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Araguaina SS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Basílio Ceresso was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Joélson Félix made in the 96th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Bruninho de Toledo however managed to control. In the 97th minute Bruninho de Toledo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedrinho Chaves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
