Délio Mesquita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. César Rosa charged in rather forcefully in the 14th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed César Rosa the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 14th match minute, Rio Rubro was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by César Rosa to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Brodosqui SC's zone, Délio Mesquita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Erivaldo dos Santos came out of the goal and Délio Mesquita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Erivaldo dos Santos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luiz Paulo Proença in the 18th minute of the match. Délio Mesquita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sandro Quirino stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Artur Couto's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. In the 26th minute, Gernando Abraão got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Brodosqui SC booed when Rio Rubro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Diguinho Valadares didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gernando Abraão recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 32nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Rio Rubro's Elias Mattos got a free kick in the 39th minute.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Luiz Paulo Proença to make the kick off. In the 55th minute the ball was on its way in behind Brodosqui SC's goalkeeper Erivaldo dos Santos, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 58th minute, Luiz Paulo Proença fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Erivaldo dos Santos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luiz Paulo Proença in the 60th minute of the match. Délio Mesquitas short, quick shot in the 62ndth minute got Erivaldo dos Santos to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luiz Paulo Proença in the 65th minute of play forced Brodosqui SC's goalkeeper Erivaldo dos Santos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Délio Mesquita kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. Gernando Abraão struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. Sandro Quirino didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Brodosqui SC. In the 77th minute, Artur Couto ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Sandro Quirino was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. In the 91st match minute, Brodosqui SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Raphael Koehler to maneuver through the defense. Délio Mesquita's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Erivaldo dos Santos read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 92nd minute of play. Luiz Paulo Proença blasted a shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Erivaldo dos Santos having to make a save. A collision led to Rio Rubro getting a freekick after 99 minutes play. Dida Guerra hit a great ball. 101 minutes into the match, Brodosqui SC's Gernando Abraão sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sandro Quirino narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The Brodosqui SC support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
