Luís Guilherme Vieira took the ball and in the 48 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Edinho Martins. Edinho Martins dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-4. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-4 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Wilian Zilles to make the kick off. Congonhas's Edinho Martins played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luís Guilherme Vieira in the 56th minute of play. 60 minutes into the game, Wilian Zilles cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-4. Gil Salgado was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Válbson Leite in the 65th minute of play forced Negrinhos Esporte Clube's goalkeeper Gil Salgado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 70 minutes, Cristóvão Arruda mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Congonhas and the Negrinhos Esporte Clube players grew even worse after the yellow card.
