After 4 minutes, Jorge Mineiro made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Corinthians Paulista's Sílvio Luiz Braga tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Dino de Sousa's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Luiz Fábio Ferraz firmly grabbed it by the left post. Luiz Fábio Ferraz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Norberto Simões, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 18 minutes into the game, Norberto Simões cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Luiz Fábio Ferraz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Sílvio Luiz Braga stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jorge Mineiro's shot from short distance in the 21st minute. If Norberto Simões had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Corinthians Paulista's Raimundo de Queiroz got a free kick in the 24th minute. The Petropolis fans' excitement grew in the 26th match minute when Petropolis's Jorge Mineiro looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. A collision led to Petropolis getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Nilson Hermes hit a great ball. Edu Lopes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Sílvio Luiz Braga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Samuel Orourke sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 39th minute Jorge Mineiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sílvio Luiz Braga saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 45th minute the ball was on its way in behind Corinthians Paulista's goalkeeper Sílvio Luiz Braga, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jorge Mineiro to strike the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Samuel Orourke managed to get in a good position for a shot. Petropolis's supporters rose to their feet, but Samuel Orourke was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sílvio Luiz Braga breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Luiz Fábio Ferraz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Norberto Simões in the 56th minute of the match. 57 minutes into the match, Corinthians Paulista's goal looked a bit too open when Edu Lopes came free, but Sílvio Luiz Braga reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Yan Ortiz kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. After having played for 59 minutes, Nilson Hermes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Petropolis's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nilson Hermes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jorge Mineiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Sílvio Luiz Braga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 63 minutes into the match, Corinthians Paulista's goal looked a bit too open when Edu Lopes came free, but Sílvio Luiz Braga reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sílvio Luiz Braga made a fantastic save in the 64th minute, when Jorge Mineiro sent off a good shot on target. Jorge Mineiro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 67th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 69 minutes into the match, Lu Liang Shu dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Sílvio Luiz Braga, 1-4. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by André Luiz Leão during the 73rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 73rd minute, André Luiz Leão hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jorge Mineiro who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 75thth minute tested the skills of Sílvio Luiz Braga when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Sílvio Luiz Braga showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Samuel Orourke, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. After a rather tough play, Corinthians Paulista's Serafim Tróia got a free kick in the 80th minute. Sílvio Luiz Braga was a little too slow when Samuel Orourke got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 81st minute. The score was now 1-5. Nilson Hermes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the match was over Petropolis could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Corinthians Paulista throughout the match.
