Emílio Passos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alessio Prisco in the 12th minute of play. Emílio Passos stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Aluísio Damião's shot from short distance in the 14th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alessio Prisco in the 15th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Emílio Passos saved Fluminense FC from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alessio Prisco in the 16th minute of play forced Fluminense FC's goalkeeper Emílio Passos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match clock showed 19 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Aluísio Damião sped through Fluminense FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Emílio Passos. Hernani Barros sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Emílio Passos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aluísio Damião, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Luverdence E.C.'s Rob Dohnanyi got control of the ball when Dé Galvão tried to sneak it across the goal line. 38 minutes into the game, Anísio Duarte was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Fluminense FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Luverdence E.C. the free kick. After a rather tough play, Fluminense FC's Anísio Duarte got a free kick in the 38th minute. If Dé Galvão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Alessio Prisco made the kick off in the second half. After 52 played minutes Fluminense FC got a freekick which was hit by Frédson de Lara. In the 58th minute of the match Valério de Almeida shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Rob Dohnanyi showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 60 minutes into the match, Luverdence E.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Hernani Barros came free, but Rob Dohnanyi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Aluísio Damião's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. After a defensive mix-up in Luverdence E.C.'s zone, Dé Galvão stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rob Dohnanyi came out of the goal and Dé Galvão tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Emílio Passos was out of position in the 74 minute of play, and Alessio Prisco capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Alessio Prisco really showed his touch with that goal: 0-2. Armando da Rocha charged in rather forcefully in the 79th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Armando da Rocha the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Luverdence E.C. booed when Fluminense FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Armando da Rocha didn't get a good kick on the ball. Aluísio Damião was extremely unlucky when he, in the 80th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Emílio Passos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alessio Prisco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Aluísio Damião could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 84th minute of the match, but Emílio Passos made a huge save. 85 minutes into the match, Fluminense FC's goalkeeper Emílio Passos had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Aluísio Damião. 91 minutes into the match, Luverdence E.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Hernani Barros came free, but Rob Dohnanyi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 92nd minute of the match, Alessio Prisco tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Emílio Passos saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Luverdence E.C.'s players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
