After 6 played minutes Diogo FC got a freekick which was hit by Marcelinho Valadares. After having played for 7 minutes, Ronaldinho Carioca managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Japira's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ronaldinho Carioca was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 11 minutes into the match, Japira's Váldson Borges sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tarcisio Figueiredo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Váldson Borges had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Diogo FC's Amílton Lucas got a free kick in the 27th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Váldson Borges in the 29th minute of play forced Diogo FC's goalkeeper Tarcisio Figueiredo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Nestor Guimarães had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 32 played minutes Japira got a freekick which was hit by Tony Pernambucano. Nestor Guimarães sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 39thth minute of the game Nestor Guimarães who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Japira's Wesley de Queirós was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 39th minute, Raúl Teles hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Japira's Wesley de Queirós proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 41st minute of the match, managed to save Japira from getting a goal against them. Jailson de Barros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Váldson Borges to make the kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tony Pernambucano during the 71st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Nestor Guimarães spun around in front of the goal 72 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Japira's goal. Japira's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sandrinho Moreira was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. The audience was convinced that Sandrinho Moreira's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Wesley de Queirós was relentless in the 80th minute of the game. Japira's Wesley de Queirós played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nestor Guimarães in the 83rd minute of play. The Diogo FC fans' excitement grew in the 91st match minute when Diogo FC's Nestor Guimarães looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 94th minute Váldson Borges shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tarcisio Figueiredo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the referee ended the match the Diogo FC players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
