If Celsinho Simões had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. José Matos stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Celsinho Simões's shot from short distance in the 18th minute. After 24 played minutes, Macanare's Cristian Peixoto shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper José Matos came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Macanare reached it. José Matos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Celsinho Simões, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Luiz Gustavo Vergílio scored 0-1 in the 29th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of José Matos, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Celsinho Simões managed to get in a good position for a shot. Macanare's supporters rose to their feet, but Celsinho Simões was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. José Matos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Celsinho Simões recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 43 played minutes Macanare got a freekick which was hit by Frédson Netto. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

51 minutes into the match, Macanare's Celsinho Simões sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that José Matos narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Celsinho Simões fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Matos having to interfere. In the 54th minute, Betinho Moreno hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Edu Amorim took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 55th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Ivo Guimarães. Macanare's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Celsinho Simões fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Matos having to interfere. When Edvaldo Almeida fell near the penalty area in the 62nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Maraca SC's protests and gave Edvaldo Almeida a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Maraca SC's Vivaldo Neiva got a free kick in the 71st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Celsinho Simões in the 79th minute of play forced Maraca SC's goalkeeper José Matos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Luiz Gustavo Vergílio in the 80th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg José Matos saved Maraca SC from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Maraca SC's zone, Luiz Gustavo Vergílio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. José Matos came out of the goal and Luiz Gustavo Vergílio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 86th minute the ball was on its way in behind Maraca SC's goalkeeper José Matos, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. José Matos was out of position in the 92 minute of play, and Celsinho Simões capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Celsinho Simões really showed his touch with that goal: 0-2. Macanare's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
