Walmir Leme's late challenge caught a Clube De Regatas Flamnego's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Walmir Leme helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Cariacica's Walmir Leme got a free kick in the 17th minute. João Francisco Pirani received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Alfredinho Montenegro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 23 minutes into the game, Walmir Leme cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Humberto de Andrade to make the kick off. In the 56th minute Walmir Leme shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Claudinho Borges saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alfredinho Montenegro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Humberto de Andrade, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. In the 63rd minute Walmir Leme shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Claudinho Borges saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Walmir Leme recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the match had gone on for 89 minutes, Humberto de Andrade put it in 1-3 from a short distance just to the right of Alfredinho Montenegro. Cariacica's Alfredinho Montenegro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by João Francisco Pirani in the 96th minute of play. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Cariacica had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
