Joel de Mendonça started the match with the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Planura's zone, Rafa Alagoano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lenílson da Cunha came out of the goal and Rafa Alagoano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee felt a red card was in order, 6 minutes into the game, when Giuseppe Donato put in a rough tackle. The referee gave Arvorezinha a penalty, 7 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Tião Ramos, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Planura's Lenílson da Cunha. 0-1. After 10 played minutes Arvorezinha got a freekick which was hit by Valdemar Motta. In the 20th minute the ball was on its way in behind Arvorezinha's goalkeeper Alberto de Castro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Jairo Mitxaut fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alberto de Castro having to interfere. Arvorezinha's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Jairo Mitxaut 30 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-1. If Jairo Mitxaut had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 44 minutes into the game, Hernani Mesquita cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Alberto de Castro was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jairo Mitxaut was the one to do the kick off. Arvorezinha's Alberto de Castro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jairo Mitxaut in the 53rd minute of play. 57 minutes into the game, Doriva Breckenfeld was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Arvorezinha's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Planura the free kick. 56 minutes into the game, one of Arvorezinha:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. After 62 minutes, Jairo Mitxaut made it 5-1 with a short kick to the right side. Arvorezinha's Alberto de Castro tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 66 minutes into the game, Jairo Mitxaut cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 6-1. Alberto de Castro was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The audience thought a goal was coming when Vicente Guedes got free with Lenílson da Cunha in the 70th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Arvorezinha getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Doriva Breckenfeld hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Arvorezinha's zone, Jairo Mitxaut stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alberto de Castro came out of the goal and Jairo Mitxaut tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Alberto de Castro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jairo Mitxaut, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. In the 84thth minute of the game Hernani Mesquita who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Arvorezinha's Alberto de Castro was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Jairo Mitxaut had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
