Elias Tinoco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Albertinho Nóbrega, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. André Alcântara hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. Marquinhos Lara showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Narciso Mendes, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Narciso Mendes had several of the Cutiu SC's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 25 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-0 score and a disappointed Marquinhos Lara as he didn't even see the shot coming. After 29 minutes of play, Cutiu SC's Aloísio Fontes made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Elias Tinoco was left in no man's land by his defense there! When Dráusio Teles fell near the penalty area in the 34th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cutiu SC's protests and gave Dráusio Teles a yellow card for diving instead. After 34 played minutes Cutiu SC got a freekick which was hit by Dráusio Teles. Morais SC's Elias Tinoco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Albertinho Nóbrega in the 38th minute of play. Elias Tinoco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aloísio Fontes in the 44th minute of the match. In the 45th minute, one of Morais SC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Morais SC. Dário Baptista shot the penalty kick right outside the post. In the 48th match minute, Cutiu SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Albertinho Nóbrega to maneuver through the defense. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Albertinho Nóbrega made the kick off in the second half. When Aloísio Fontes came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Cutiu SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aloísio Fontes couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Albertinho Nóbrega in the 55th minute of play forced Morais SC's goalkeeper Elias Tinoco to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Agostinho Guerra charged in rather forcefully in the 56th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Agostinho Guerra the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 56 played minutes Cutiu SC got a freekick which was hit by Agostinho Guerra. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Lenílson Marquez managed to get in a good position for a shot. Morais SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Lenílson Marquez was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marquinhos Lara breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Narciso Mendes in the 59th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Marquinhos Lara prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Elias Tinoco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Albertinho Nóbrega in the 60th minute of the match. Albertinho Nóbrega received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Elias Tinoco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Elias Tinoco stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Albertinho Nóbrega's shot from short distance in the 63rd minute. Marquinhos Lara didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Narciso Mendes went, in the 65th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. 71 minutes into the match, Cutiu SC's goal looked a bit too open when Narciso Mendes came free, but Marquinhos Lara reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Aloísio Fontes might have been able to make a better finish in the 75th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Elias Tinoco. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Aloísio Fontes ran back to his position shaking his head. Aloísio Fontes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Elias Tinoco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Manolo Faria hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. Albertinho Nóbrega received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Elias Tinoco came out and tried to block the shot, but Albertinho Nóbrega slotted it home off the left post making it 2-3 in the 92nd minute. Aloísio Fontes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Cutiu SC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Cutiu SC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
