After having played for 4 minutes, Murillo Favoretto managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Esmeraldas E.C's supporters crossed their fingers, but Murillo Favoretto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Duarte Xavier came out of the goal in the 8th minute to try and stop a shot by Esmeraldas E.C's Murillo Favoretto. But to his dismay, Murillo Favoretto quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. After 10 played minutes Botafogo O mais Glorioso got a freekick which was hit by Glauco Ceresso. 12 minutes into the game, Fausto de Salles was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Botafogo O mais Glorioso's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Esmeraldas E.C the free kick. A collision led to Botafogo O mais Glorioso getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Fausto de Salles hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Matías Sá managed to get in a good position for a shot. Esmeraldas E.C's supporters rose to their feet, but Matías Sá was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Duarte Xavier breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Duarte Xavier took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Murillo Favoretto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Duarte Xavier showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Matías Sá in the 18th minute of the match. After 21 played minutes Esmeraldas E.C got a freekick which was hit by Murillo Favoretto. After 25 played minutes Botafogo O mais Glorioso got a freekick which was hit by Fausto de Salles. Murillo Favoretto took the ball and in the 31 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Duarte Xavier. Duarte Xavier dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. In the 34th minute Murillo Favoretto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Duarte Xavier saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marcos Guedes's late challenge caught a Esmeraldas E.C's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Marcos Guedes helped the player get up and apologised. In the 36th match minute, Botafogo O mais Glorioso was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcos Guedes to maneuver through the defense. Túlio Dracena kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. In the 38th minute of the match Matías Sá shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Duarte Xavier showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. A collision led to Botafogo O mais Glorioso getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Marcos Guedes hit a great ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

When Júlio Mendes came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Esmeraldas E.C fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Júlio Mendes couldn't finish the play. Murillo Favoretto's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 90thth minute, Duarte Xavier skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 91st minute, Júlio Mendes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 93rd minute, Murillo Favoretto made a precise shot to the right of Duarte Xavier. Botafogo O mais Glorioso's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. The Botafogo O mais Glorioso fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Esmeraldas E.C were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
