The supporters of MONTE AZUL F.C booed when MACONHEIROS F.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eliézer Galvão didn't get a good kick on the ball. 12 minutes into the match, Rafael de Alcântara had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Hélio de Brito. MONTE AZUL F.C's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rafael de Alcântara was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. 18 minutes into the game, Edmundo Domingues cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Hélio de Brito was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Eliézer Galvão hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. When Hélder Galvão fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. Jardel Nunes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bebeto Carneiro in the 28th minute of play. In the 30th minute, MACONHEIROS F.C's Eliézer Galvão seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Eliézer Galvão the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of MACONHEIROS F.C protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Eliézer Galvão had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. 35 minutes into the match, MONTE AZUL F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Rafael de Alcântara came free, but Hélio de Brito reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

MACONHEIROS F.C's Jardel Nunes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Enrique Severo in the 57th minute of play. In the 61st minute, Rafael de Alcântara got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Rafael de Alcântara sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hélio de Brito showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hélder Galvão, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. After a rather tough play, MACONHEIROS F.C's João Francisco Saraiva got a free kick in the 75th minute. When the match had gone on for 89 minutes, Rafael de Alcântara took a quick shot and it went in 3-4 without a chance for Hélio de Brito to make any attempt to save it. The MONTE AZUL F.C supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching MACONHEIROS F.C's performance. The match ended with a win for MACONHEIROS F.C.
