After a defensive mix-up in Jabaquara's zone, Nelson Paranaense stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jarbas Moraes came out of the goal and Nelson Paranaense tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jarbas Moraes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nelson Paranaense, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Enrique Severo in the 9th minute of play forced Jabaquara's goalkeeper Jarbas Moraes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jarbas Moraes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Enrique Severo, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. Nelson Paranaense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jarbas Moraes having to interfere. If Nelson Paranaense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Enrique Severo struck a weak shot in the 20th minute. Jarbas Moraes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for MONTE AZUL F.C. Jabaquara's Jarbas Moraes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nelson Paranaense in the 25th minute of play. Enrique Severo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Jabaquara's Delfim Barros got a free kick in the 29th minute. MONTE AZUL F.C's Rui Alvarenga suffered a sore thigh after 31 minutes and couldn't finish the game. MONTE AZUL F.C's Silvério Matos was substituted for Rui Alvarenga. In the 33rd match minute, Jabaquara was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Enéas de Andrade to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Jabaquara's Delfim Barros got a free kick in the 43rd minute. 45 minutes into the game, Fabinho Neves was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Jabaquara's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave MONTE AZUL F.C the free kick. In the 45th minute, Fabinho Neves hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

In the 53rdth minute of the game Bebeto Carneiro who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Jabaquara's Jarbas Moraes was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 57 played minutes Jabaquara got a freekick which was hit by Fabinho Neves. 63 minutes into the game, Jacinto Favoretto was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Jabaquara's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave MONTE AZUL F.C the free kick. In the 63rd match minute, Jabaquara was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jacinto Favoretto to maneuver through the defense. MONTE AZUL F.C's supporters rose to their feet, but Oséias Branco was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jarbas Moraes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 70 minutes into the game, Fabinho Neves cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Hélio de Brito was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, Nelson Paranaense managed to get in a good position for a shot. MONTE AZUL F.C's supporters rose to their feet, but Nelson Paranaense was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jarbas Moraes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Enrique Severo might have been able to make a better finish in the 76th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jarbas Moraes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Enrique Severo ran back to his position shaking his head. After 79 played minutes Jabaquara got a freekick which was hit by Delfim Barros. Enrique Severo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Jarbas Moraes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nelson Paranaense sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hélio de Brito made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fabinho Neves in the 89th minute of play. 91 minutes into the match, MONTE AZUL F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Fabinho Neves came free, but Hélio de Brito reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 93 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for MONTE AZUL F.C! The referee gave Jabaquara a penalty, 95 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Christiano Tasso, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of MONTE AZUL F.C's Hélio de Brito. 2-1. The Jabaquara players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
