In the 2nd match minute, SALMO 23 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Claudinei Pontes to maneuver through the defense. Murillo Pimenta took the ball and in the 6 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Toninho Santana. Toninho Santana dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Walmyr Gerber received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Toninho Santana tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Toninho Santana showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Murillo Pimenta in the 11th minute of the match. Toninho Santana showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Walmyr Gerber, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. After 15 minutes, Walmyr Gerber made it 0-2 with a short kick to the right side. SALMO 23's Toninho Santana tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 21 minutes into the match, Murillo Pimenta notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of SALMO 23's Toninho Santana. Toninho Santana was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Renato Quaresma hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Angelo Rezende managed to get in a good position for a shot. SALMO 23's supporters rose to their feet, but Angelo Rezende was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vito Quirino breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After some careless play in the SALMO 23 defense, Murillo Pimenta kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Toninho Santana. The SALMO 23 fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Toninho Santana should have stopped the shot. Toninho Santana took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Walmyr Gerber, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Raimundo Brito kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. Juan de Queiroz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Toninho Santana having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Murillo Pimenta stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Murillo Pimenta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 58 minutes, Angelo Rezende mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SALMO 23 and the Clube de Regatas Brasil players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to SALMO 23 getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Angelo Rezende hit a great ball. Walmyr Gerber's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 59thth minute, Toninho Santana skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. 61 minutes into the match, Clube de Regatas Brasil's goal looked a bit too open when Angelo Rezende came free, but Vito Quirino reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Almir Reis fell near the penalty area in the 61st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Clube de Regatas Brasil's protests and gave Almir Reis a yellow card for diving instead. In the 63rd minute Faustão de Lima shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vito Quirino saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Raimundo Brito hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. After 67 minutes of play, Clube de Regatas Brasil's Walmyr Gerber made it 0-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Toninho Santana was left in no man's land by his defense there! Toninho Santana made an important save on a dangerous shot by Walmyr Gerber in the 71st minute. Murillo Pimenta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Toninho Santana tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Walmyr Gerber came free with the goalkeeper in the 79th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Toninho Santana could save by the left post. 82 minutes into the match, SALMO 23's goalkeeper Toninho Santana had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Walmyr Gerber. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, Murillo Pimenta managed to get in a good position for a shot. Clube de Regatas Brasil's supporters rose to their feet, but Murillo Pimenta was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Toninho Santana breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Vito Quirino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Orlando de Toledo in the 91st minute of play. Orlando de Toledo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vito Quirino having to interfere. In the 96th minute of the match Claudinei Pontes shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Vito Quirino showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Clube de Regatas Brasil's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
