A collision led to S E BRITO getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Basílio Gonçalves hit a great ball. Claudinei Mendes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Eduardo Dantas read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 11th minute of play. Rui Prata took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Osvaldinho Amaral, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rui Prata showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Osvaldinho Amaral, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Luís Guilherme do Vale to make the kick off.
