The audience thought a goal was coming when Normando Astudillo got free with Vicente Barbosa in the 12th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Normando Astudillo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 19th minute of the match, but Vicente Barbosa made a huge save. 20 minutes into the match, Piquara's goal looked a bit too open when Toninho Queirós came free, but José Augusto Vasconcelos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Piquara's José Augusto Vasconcelos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jean Castro in the 22nd minute of play. After 23 minutes of play, Pedra's Toninho Queirós made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Piquara's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sebastião Gerber was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Luiz Fernando Pontes hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. 48 minutes into the game, Sebastião Gerber recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Vicente Barbosa. Sebastião Gerber showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-1. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Normando Astudillo to make the kick off. In the 57th match minute, Piquara was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gerson Montenegro to maneuver through the defense. José Augusto Vasconcelos made an important save on a dangerous shot by Toninho Queirós in the 59th minute. Alessandro Gomes's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but José Augusto Vasconcelos firmly grabbed it by the left post. Pedra's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fausto de Azevedo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-1. After 82 played minutes Pedra got a freekick which was hit by Luiz Fernando Pontes. Alessandro Gomes took the ball and in the 84 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised José Augusto Vasconcelos. José Augusto Vasconcelos dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-2. Jean Castro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Augusto Vasconcelos having to interfere. A collision led to Pedra getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Luiz Fernando Pontes hit a great ball.
