MURURÉ FC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. 16 minutes into the match, MURURÉ FC's goal looked a bit too open when Allan Sabóia came free, but Jorge Gerber reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jorge Gerber made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Geraldo Bastos in the 18th minute of play. MURURÉ FC's Jorge Gerber played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Geraldo Bastos in the 20th minute of play. A collision led to MURURÉ FC getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Geovânio Perez hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Felippe Netto got free with Ricardo da Rocha in the 25th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jorge Gerber made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Geraldo Bastos in the 32nd minute of play. When Allan Sabóia came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Esperantina SS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Allan Sabóia couldn't finish the play. Geraldo Bastos struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Jorge Gerber didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Esperantina SS. When Cléberson Pernambucano fell near the penalty area in the 39th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Esperantina SS's protests and gave Cléberson Pernambucano a yellow card for diving instead. In the 39th match minute, Esperantina SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cléberson Pernambucano to maneuver through the defense. The crowd rose to their feet as Lenílson de Moraes kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ricardo da Rocha. That made the score 1-0 in the 40 minute of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Lenílson de Moraes to make the kick off. MURURÉ FC's Lenílson de Moraes got a good chance for a goal in the 51st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 53rd match minute, MURURÉ FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cesinha Marquez to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, MURURÉ FC's Didi Catarinense got a free kick in the 57th minute. Geraldo Bastos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorge Gerber having to interfere. Esperantina SS's Allan Sabóia got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 69th minute, Felippe Netto managed to get in a good position for a shot. MURURÉ FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Felippe Netto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ricardo da Rocha breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Allan Sabóia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorge Gerber having to interfere. Jorge Gerber showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Allan Sabóia, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. In the 80th minute, Geraldo Bastos ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jorge Gerber was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. In the 88th minute of the match Dito Ribeiro shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jorge Gerber showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Esperantina SS's Allan Sabóia got a good chance for a goal in the 89th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet as Esperantina SS's Allan Sabóia slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Jorge Gerber. That made the score 1-2 after 91 minutes of play. After 94 played minutes Esperantina SS got a freekick which was hit by Elói Mello. The Esperantina SS supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Esperantina SS would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
