To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Elano Correia's late challenge caught a Pro Vercelli FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Elano Correia helped the player get up and apologised. After 23 played minutes Laziol got a freekick which was hit by Elano Correia. After a rather tough play, Laziol's Luiz Eduardo Torres got a free kick in the 26th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Adilson Domingues managed to get in a good position for a shot. Laziol's supporters rose to their feet, but Adilson Domingues was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Robinho Senna breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Benjamim Neto struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Luisinho Senna didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pro Vercelli FC. An unexpectedly hard shot by Célio Luz in the 36th minute of play forced Laziol's goalkeeper Luisinho Senna to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Benjamim Neto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luisinho Senna having to interfere. Luisinho Senna stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Benjamim Neto's shot from short distance in the 44th minute. In the 46thth minute of the game Benjamim Neto who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Laziol's Luisinho Senna was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After the first half Pro Vercelli FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Eurico de Castro stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Benjamim Neto in the 58th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Luisinho Senna saved Laziol from getting behind. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Benjamim Neto in the 62nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Luisinho Senna prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Eurico de Castro was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 68 minutes had been played. Benjamim Neto who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 71stth minute tested the skills of Luisinho Senna when he managed to save the team from getting behind.
