The supporters of Ervalzinho booed when Arroio do Sal FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedrinho Tróia didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nestor Pimenta in the 15th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Joélson de Senna prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Zé Fernandezs short, quick shot in the 16thth minute got Joélson de Senna to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Pedrinho Tróia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paulo Lopez having to interfere. Josué de Medeiros hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. 23 minutes into the match, Arroio do Sal FC's goalkeeper Joélson de Senna had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Zé Fernandez. Ademir Pitta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paulo Lopez having to interfere. In the 27th match minute, Arroio do Sal FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Betão de Godoi to maneuver through the defense. Paulo Lopez stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ademir Pitta's shot from short distance in the 35th minute. In the 37th minute Ademir Pitta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paulo Lopez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nelson Loureiro kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. 40 minutes into the match, Arroio do Sal FC's goal looked a bit too open when Nestor Pimenta came free, but Joélson de Senna reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Joélson de Senna showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nestor Pimenta, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Zé Fernandez ran back to his position shaking his head. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nelson Loureiro during the 84th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. With a left leg Paulo Lopez saved Ervalzinho from getting behind. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
