When the match had gone on for 4 minutes, Roger Baiano put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Edmundo de Mendonça. Forquilha's Edmundo de Mendonça played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Giovani Trancoso in the 19th minute of play. Edmundo de Mendonça came out of the goal in the 20th minute to try and stop a shot by Barbosa's Fellipe Salgado. But to his dismay, Fellipe Salgado quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. If Giovani Trancoso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 26 minutes into the game, Duda Reis was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Forquilha's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Barbosa the free kick. Fellipe Salgado placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Giovani Trancoso in the 30th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Edmundo de Mendonça prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Giovani Trancoso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edmundo de Mendonça showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Roger Baiano, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Marcelinho Berger took the ball and in the 39 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Edmundo de Mendonça. Edmundo de Mendonça dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. Carlos Alberto Mota charged in rather forcefully in the 46th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Carlos Alberto Mota the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Forquilha getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Carlos Alberto Mota hit a great ball. Roger Baiano recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After the first half Barbosa were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Giovani Trancoso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 56 minutes into the match, Forquilha's goalkeeper Edmundo de Mendonça had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Roger Baiano. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fellipe Salgado in the 59th minute of play forced Forquilha's goalkeeper Edmundo de Mendonça to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 60th minute, Roger Baiano got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Roger Baiano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Edmundo de Mendonça made an important save on a dangerous shot by Giovani Trancoso in the 65th minute. Roger Baiano struck a weak shot in the 68th minute. Edmundo de Mendonça didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Barbosa. Edmundo de Mendonça made a fantastic save in the 72nd minute, when Giovani Trancoso sent off a good shot on target. If Marcelinho Berger had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Giovani Trancoso's late challenge caught a Forquilha's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. With his leg Edmundo de Mendonça managed to avoid a goal in the 81stth minute, when Barbosa's Roger Baiano fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. If Giovani Trancoso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Forquilha fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Barbosa were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
