Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Gilson Botelho kicked off to start the match. Rodrigo de Barros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Maria Gonçalves having to interfere. Alfredinho Aparecido sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Coronel's zone, Gilson Botelho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. José Maria Gonçalves came out of the goal and Gilson Botelho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Coronel's Eurico Recife got his second yellow card of the match in the 43rd minute. The referee ordered Eurico Recife off the ground. After 43 played minutes Coronel got a freekick which was hit by Eurico Recife. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Alfredinho Aparecido made a kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Coronel's Amílton Capixaba sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that José Carlos Cosme narrowly saved just below the crossbar. José Maria Gonçalves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gilson Botelho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Coronel's Raúl Massa got a free kick in the 56th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gilson Botelho in the 60th minute of play forced Coronel's goalkeeper José Maria Gonçalves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 61st minute Gilson Botelho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José Maria Gonçalves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Coronel's Alfredinho Aparecido got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 65 minutes into the match, Coronel's Raúl Massa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that José Carlos Cosme narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Raúl Massa's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but José Carlos Cosme was relentless in the 70th minute of the game. In the 76th minute, Raúl Massa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. José Carlos Cosme made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfredinho Aparecido in the 81st minute of play. In the 82nd minute, Amílton Capixaba got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Alfredinho Aparecido might have been able to make a better finish in the 83rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over José Carlos Cosme. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Alfredinho Aparecido ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 86th minute Alfredinho Aparecido shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José Carlos Cosme saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Amílton Capixaba had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
