Durval de Senna was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Naldo Cerezo showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 8 minute of play. Hélio Cearense received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Toninho Miranda tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cássio Linares's late challenge caught a Iuri FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Durval de Senna didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Iuri FC. 21 minutes into the match, Iuri FC's Geovani Britto sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Durval de Senna narrowly saved just below the crossbar. A collision led to Botafogo FC getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Cássio Linares hit a great ball. If Silvério de Salles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Durval de Senna, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. 45 minutes into the match, Botafogo FC's goalkeeper Durval de Senna had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Geovani Britto. If Oséas de Brito had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Oséas de Brito was the one to do the kick off. 62 minutes into the game, Enéas Marinho was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Botafogo FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Iuri FC the free kick. Enéas Marinho kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. After recieving a nice pass, Iuri FC's Valdir Soeiro tried to score from far away in the 63rd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Naldo Cerezo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Durval de Senna having to interfere. Iuri FC:s Toninho Miranda showed great skill when he stopped Claudinei Araújo:s penalty. The audience held their breath when Hélio Cearense in the 81st minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Toninho Miranda's left hand side. Geovani Britto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Durval de Senna having to interfere. Durval de Senna took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Geovani Britto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Iuri FC's Toninho Miranda proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 91st minute of the match, managed to save Iuri FC from getting a goal against them. When Enéas Marinho came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the Botafogo FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Enéas Marinho couldn't finish the play. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
