After a rather tough play, Emburana's Zé Trigo got a free kick in the 8th minute. A collision led to AGUIA DO VALE getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Claudinei Ramos hit a great ball. In the 12th minute, Gildo Porto ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Laerte Palmeira was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. When the match had gone on for 17 minutes, Claudinei Ramos took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Laerte Palmeira to make any attempt to save it. A collision led to AGUIA DO VALE getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Nelson Proença hit a great ball. Geovânio Trancoso took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 24th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Luís Gaúcho. AGUIA DO VALE's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. With his leg Laerte Palmeira managed to avoid a goal in the 25thth minute, when AGUIA DO VALE's Gildo Porto fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. AGUIA DO VALE's Claudinei Ramos got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Denílson de Salles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luís Gaúcho having to interfere. Zé Trigo took the ball and in the 33 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Luís Gaúcho. Luís Gaúcho dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. In the 42nd minute, Manoel Amorim hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 43 played minutes, AGUIA DO VALE's Jânio Arantes shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Laerte Palmeira came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in AGUIA DO VALE reached it. 47 minutes into the match, AGUIA DO VALE's goal looked a bit too open when Deivid Cardoso came free, but Luís Gaúcho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Zé Trigo made a kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Claudinei Ramos in the 54th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Laerte Palmeira saved Emburana from getting behind. Luís Gaúcho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zé Trigo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Claudinei Ramos in the 63rd minute of play forced Emburana's goalkeeper Laerte Palmeira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gildo Porto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Laerte Palmeira having to interfere. In the 72nd minute Gildo Porto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Laerte Palmeira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Claudinei Ramos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When AGUIA DO VALE's Gildo Porto in the 93rd minute got a chance for a shot 93rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Emburana's goalie prevented a goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Zé Trigo in the 94th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Luís Gaúcho saved AGUIA DO VALE from getting behind. Emburana's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
