Wellington Amaral took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Deivid Cardoso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Laerte Palmeira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mário da Rocha in the 25th minute of the match. Wellington Amaral didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Emburana. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mário da Rocha stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Sílvio Favoretto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Laerte Palmeira stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Célio Bueno's shot from short distance in the 75th minute. When Célio Bueno fell near the penalty area in the 99th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored AD Guarulhos's protests and gave Célio Bueno a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Emburana booed when AD Guarulhos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 99 match minutes in a wonderful position. Célio Bueno didn't get a good kick on the ball. For all the effort they put into the match, the Emburana players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for AD Guarulhos.
