Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 5th minute, Mário da Rocha got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, AD Guarulhos's Mário da Rocha got a free kick in the 7th minute. In the 9th minute the ball was on its way in behind AD Guarulhos's goalkeeper Wellington Amaral, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Mário da Rocha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Laerte Palmeira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. AD Guarulhos's Mário da Rocha got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Wellington Amaral showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zé Trigo, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. 26 minutes into the match, Emburana's goal looked a bit too open when Mário da Rocha came free, but Laerte Palmeira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Laerte Palmeira came out of the goal and Sílvio Favoretto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. AD Guarulhos were awarded a corner in the 65th minute after Emburana's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Severino Motta took the corner. It was a well-played corner which Célio Bueno managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Mário da Rocha might have been able to make a better finish in the 67th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Laerte Palmeira. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mário da Rocha ran back to his position shaking his head. 77 minutes into the match, AD Guarulhos's goal looked a bit too open when Zé Trigo came free, but Wellington Amaral reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Laerte Palmeira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mário da Rocha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 0-3 became the score in the 80th minute when Sílvio Favoretto elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Mário da Rocha's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Laerte Palmeira was relentless in the 85th minute of the game. 93 minutes into the game, AD Guarulhos's Sílvio Favoretto nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot.
