Gilson Maciel started the match with the kick off. The supporters of Mandioca FC booed when Pagem FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eriberto Arósio didn't get a good kick on the ball. A hard shot 7 in the game by Nelson Recife from a close distance when the talented Marcel Novaes managed to make a qualified save. Pagem FC's players were relieved. In the 12th match minute, Mandioca FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tostão Carvalho to maneuver through the defense. Marcel Novaes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gilson Maciel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nelson Recife came free with the goalkeeper in the 25th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Marcel Novaes could save by the left post. Nelson Recife's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 27thth minute, Marcel Novaes skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. 28 minutes into the match, Pagem FC's goal looked a bit too open when Gilson Maciel came free, but Marcel Novaes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Pagem FC getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Pedrinho Zanette hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Gilson Maciel managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mandioca FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Gilson Maciel was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marcel Novaes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 34 played minutes Mandioca FC got a freekick which was hit by Luiz Pires. Gilson Maciel hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. Nelson Recife received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Marcel Novaes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Pagem FC getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Eriberto Arósio hit a great ball. Gilson Maciel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gilson Maciel struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Marcel Novaes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mandioca FC. Nelson Recife fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcel Novaes having to interfere. Pagem FC's Marcel Novaes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gilson Maciel in the 45th minute of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Evandro Moreno stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Gilson Maciel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 50th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 58th minute Gilson Maciel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcel Novaes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Genílson de Andrade's late challenge caught a Pagem FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Genílson de Andrade helped the player get up and apologised. In the 63rd minute, Genílson de Andrade hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 65 minutes into the match, Pagem FC's Digo Alvarenga broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Faustão Saldanha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carlos Augusto Machado, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Luiz Pires kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. Mandioca FC's Gilson Maciel got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Marcel Novaes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gilson Maciel, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Evandro Moreno in the 76th minute of play forced Mandioca FC's goalkeeper Faustão Saldanha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 87 minutes of play, Pagem FC's Carlos Augusto Machado made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Faustão Saldanha was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Nelson Recife in the 91st minute of play forced Pagem FC's goalkeeper Marcel Novaes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
