Spectators: 6000 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Beto do Vale got the match started through his kick off. The supporters of xavantes oestes booed when CRUZEIRO was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rafinha Meireles didn't get a good kick on the ball. 3 minutes into the game, one of CRUZEIRO:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 5th minute there was a penalty for xavantes oestes. João Adolfo Hoffmann stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Zé Carlos Alves. 1-0. Beto do Vale sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Márcio Arruda charged in rather forcefully in the 12th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Márcio Arruda the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Márcio Arruda kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. 19 minutes into the match, Maurício Andrade notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of CRUZEIRO's Zé Carlos Alves. Zé Carlos Alves was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Eliézer Meireles came out of the goal in the 22nd minute to try and stop a shot by CRUZEIRO's Elano Sanches. But to his dismay, Elano Sanches quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. Eliézer Meireles didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Elano Sanches went, in the 25th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-2 was the resulting score. Eliézer Meireles made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Márcio Arruda in the 28th minute of play. Eliézer Meireles showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Elano Amaral, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Zé Carlos Alves made an important save on a dangerous shot by Maurício Andrade in the 32nd minute. In the 33rd minute, Haroldo Quirino got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Thiago Coutinho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zé Carlos Alves having to interfere. In the 39th minute, Elano Sanches ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Eliézer Meireles was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-3. Eliézer Meireles didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Beto do Vale went, in the 43rd minute, to the upper right corner, 3-4 was the resulting score. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 3-5.

The wind increased when João Adolfo Hoffmann made the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, xavantes oestes's Thiago Coutinho got a free kick in the 54th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Elano Sanches got free with Eliézer Meireles in the 60th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the match had gone on for 61 minutes, Márcio Arruda took a quick shot and it went in 3-7 without a chance for Eliézer Meireles to make any attempt to save it. Haroldo Quirino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Zé Carlos Alves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Zé Carlos Alves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Maurício Andrade in the 69th minute of play. CRUZEIRO's Zé Carlos Alves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Haroldo Quirino in the 71st minute of play. 73 minutes into the match, xavantes oestes's goalkeeper Eliézer Meireles had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Elano Sanches. 3-8 became the score in the 74th minute when Beto do Vale elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Eliézer Meireles came out of the goal in the 77th minute to try and stop a shot by CRUZEIRO's Elano Sanches. But to his dismay, Elano Sanches quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-9. 83 minutes into the game, Luís Gustavo Cabral was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. CRUZEIRO's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave xavantes oestes the free kick. xavantes oestes made a substitution. Celso Faria replaced João Adolfo Hoffmann. When Celso Faria came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the xavantes oestes fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Celso Faria couldn't finish the play. After some careless play in the CRUZEIRO defense, Maurício Andrade kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Zé Carlos Alves. The CRUZEIRO fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Zé Carlos Alves should have stopped the shot. 93 minutes into the match, Maurício Andrade had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Zé Carlos Alves. CRUZEIRO's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Maurício Andrade was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-9. When Haroldo Quirino came up free with the goalie in the 98th minute, the xavantes oestes fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Haroldo Quirino couldn't finish the play. CRUZEIRO's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
