The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Clemente Vieira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Clemente Lima in the 4th minute of the match. Tapuia FC's Clemente Vieira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joaquim Sá in the 5th minute of play. When Zacarias Soeiro came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the Tapuia FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zacarias Soeiro couldn't finish the play. Gualter Torres fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Beto Novaes having to interfere. Gualter Torres's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Beto Novaes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 11th minute of play. Zacarias Soeiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 14th minute, Gualter Torres reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Beto Novaes. The goal made the score 1-0. After a defensive mix-up in Rio de Janeiro EC's zone, Gualter Torres stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Beto Novaes came out of the goal and Gualter Torres tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 26 minutes, Joaquim Sá managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rio de Janeiro EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joaquim Sá was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 34th minute Joaquim Sá shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Clemente Vieira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Beto Novaes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gualter Torres in the 36th minute of the match. In the 37th minute, Clemente Lima ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Clemente Vieira was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Beto Novaes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zacarias Soeiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gualter Torres fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Beto Novaes having to interfere. Duarte Domingues charged in rather forcefully in the 44th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Duarte Domingues the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Rio de Janeiro EC getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Duarte Domingues hit a great ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gualter Torres to strike the kick off in the second half. After 59 minutes of play, Tapuia FC's Gualter Torres made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Beto Novaes was left in no man's land by his defense there! The audience was convinced that Gualter Torres's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Beto Novaes was relentless in the 62nd minute of the game. When Joaquim Sá came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Rio de Janeiro EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Joaquim Sá couldn't finish the play. Gualter Torres received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Beto Novaes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 81st minute, Duarte Domingues hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gualter Torres sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Clemente Vieira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Clemente Lima in the 88th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 94 minutes, Clemente Lima took a quick shot and it went in 2-3 without a chance for Clemente Vieira to make any attempt to save it.
