Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Edvaldo Marquez got the match started through his kick off. Álvaro Ortiz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edvaldo Marquez in the 4th minute of the match. 5 minutes into the match, Corinthians's goal looked a bit too open when Edvaldo Marquez came free, but Álvaro Ortiz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Edvaldo Marquez in the 11th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Álvaro Ortiz saved Corinthians from getting behind. The crowd rose to their feet as Edmundo Reis kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Gerson Rossi. That made the score 1-0 in the 15 minute of play. Joa EC made a substitution. Américo Loureiro replaced Edmílson Passos. Edvaldo Marquez's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Álvaro Ortiz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 23rd minute of play. When Edmundo Reis fell near the penalty area in the 24th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Corinthians's protests and gave Edmundo Reis a yellow card for diving instead. Edmundo Reis hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edvaldo Marquez in the 27th minute of play forced Corinthians's goalkeeper Álvaro Ortiz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Corinthians players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Joa EC were winning 1-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Edmundo Reis was the one to do the kick off. Diego dos Santos could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 54th minute of the match, but Álvaro Ortiz made a huge save. A collision led to Joa EC getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Cristian Mattos hit a great ball. In the 64th minute, Germano Ramalho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Joa EC booed when Corinthians was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Geovani Velasco didn't get a good kick on the ball. Corinthians's Álvaro Ortiz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edvaldo Marquez in the 68th minute of play. Álvaro Ortiz was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Edvaldo Marquez showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-3 in the 73 minute of play. When Américo Loureiro came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the Joa EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Américo Loureiro couldn't finish the play. Álvaro Ortiz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Américo Loureiro in the 80th minute of play. Gerson Rossi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Agostinho do Valle in the 82nd minute of play. Álvaro Ortiz made a fantastic save in the 84th minute, when Diego dos Santos sent off a good shot on target. Corinthians's Falcão Cosme got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Joa EC played a much better game than Corinthians and deserved their victory. The Corinthians players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
