Rafa Chaves hit a great ball. 21 minutes into the game, Duarte Barral was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. XV de Julho de 1944's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gurupa the free kick. After a rather tough play, XV de Julho de 1944's Duarte Barral got a free kick in the 22nd minute. 23 minutes into the match, XV de Julho de 1944's goal looked a bit too open when Conrado Sein came free, but Wanderson Maciel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 25th minute the ball was on its way in behind Gurupa's goalkeeper Giuseppe Mendonça, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 32nd minute, Celsinho Aguiar got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Celsinho Aguiar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Giuseppe Mendonça having to interfere. XV de Julho de 1944's Wanderson Maciel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Conrado Sein in the 41st minute of play. 42 minutes into the game, Gurupa's Conrado Sein nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Wanderson Maciel made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Rodriguinho Borges was the one to do the kick off. Giuseppe Mendonça showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sandro Messias, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. In a very dangerous position, a player in Gurupa fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 53rd minute. Penalty! Adilson Arce shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. After a defensive mix-up in Gurupa's zone, Celsinho Aguiar stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Giuseppe Mendonça came out of the goal and Celsinho Aguiar tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Giuseppe Mendonça made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sandro Messias in the 64th minute of play. Sandro Messias sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 72nd minute Conrado Sein shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wanderson Maciel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 74th minute, XV de Julho de 1944's Duarte Barral seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Duarte Barral the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of XV de Julho de 1944 protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Duarte Barral had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In a very dangerous position, a player in XV de Julho de 1944 fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 73rd minute. Penalty! Conrado Sein received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Wanderson Maciel came out and tried to block the shot, but Conrado Sein slotted it home off the left post making it 0-4 in the 86th minute. After 94 minutes, Sandro Messias made it 1-4 with a short kick to the right side. Gurupa's Giuseppe Mendonça tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Sandro Messias fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 99th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Giuseppe Mendonça having to interfere.
