After 3 played minutes Mairinque got a freekick which was hit by Flavinho da Silveira. Bruninho Almeida made a fantastic save in the 7th minute, when Agnaldo Meira sent off a good shot on target. After some fancy dribbling in the 8th minute, Benedito Neves managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sport Clube Gouveia's supporters rose to their feet, but Benedito Neves was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bruninho Almeida breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Benedito Neves in the 11th minute of play forced Mairinque's goalkeeper Bruninho Almeida to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Flavinho da Silveira hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. Bruninho Almeida was a little too slow when Benedito Neves got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 13th minute. The score was now 1-0. When Benedito Neves came up free with the goalie in the 18th minute, the Sport Clube Gouveia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Benedito Neves couldn't finish the play. In the 20th match minute, Mairinque was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Flavinho da Silveira to maneuver through the defense. 22 minutes into the match, Mairinque's Pedro Paulo Queiroz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Columbo Font narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Mairinque's Bruninho Almeida played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Benedito Neves in the 31st minute of play. Bruninho Almeida took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Benedito Neves, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rogério Novaes struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Bruninho Almeida didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sport Clube Gouveia. In the 35th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mairinque's goalkeeper Bruninho Almeida, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Sport Clube Gouveia's Benedito Neves was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 37th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. The supporters of Sport Clube Gouveia booed when Mairinque was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dorival Aparecido didn't get a good kick on the ball. 42 minutes into the match, Mairinque's goal looked a bit too open when Benedito Neves came free, but Bruninho Almeida reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Simão Guerra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Benedito Neves made the kick off in the second half. When Benedito Neves came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Sport Clube Gouveia fans jumped to their feet. Bruninho Almeida came out of the goal in the 59th minute to try and stop a shot by Sport Clube Gouveia's Benedito Neves. But to his dismay, Benedito Neves quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. After 64 minutes, Dorival Aparecido mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mairinque and the Sport Clube Gouveia players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Mairinque getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Dorival Aparecido hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Simão Guerra in the 71st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Bruninho Almeida prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience was convinced that Rogério Novaes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Bruninho Almeida was relentless in the 77th minute of the game. If Agnaldo Meira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 82 minutes into the game, Mairinque's Abel Sanches nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Columbo Font made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. In the 86th minute Agnaldo Meira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bruninho Almeida saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Agnaldo Meira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sport Clube Gouveia's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
