The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Lauro Carneiro's late challenge caught a SUPERBOL's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lauro Carneiro helped the player get up and apologised. Vânderson Furtado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Aílton Araújo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Edinho Cabral made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Agnaldo Ramos in the 13th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cecilio Lucero in the 14th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Edinho Cabral saved SUPERBOL from getting behind. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cecilio Lucero in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Edinho Cabral prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Edinho Cabral made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cecilio Lucero in the 28th minute of play. Clube Atletico Mineiro were furious when Álvaro Lopez was red carded, 31 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After 30 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Clube Atletico Mineiro! Aníbal Vergílio shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. Aílton Araújo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Doni Neiva in the 34th minute of play. Cecilio Lucero fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edinho Cabral having to interfere. Júlio Rodrigues's late challenge caught a SUPERBOL's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Júlio Rodrigues helped the player get up and apologised. Clube Atletico Mineiro's Aílton Araújo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 44th minute of the match, managed to save Clube Atletico Mineiro from getting a goal against them. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cecilio Lucero to make the kick off. Celsinho Domingues's late challenge caught a Clube Atletico Mineiro's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Celsinho Domingues helped the player get up and apologised. Celsinho Domingues hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. SUPERBOL's Edinho Cabral proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save SUPERBOL from getting a goal against them. Cecilio Lucero struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Edinho Cabral didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Clube Atletico Mineiro. If Cecilio Lucero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With a little luck, SUPERBOL's Edinho Cabral got control of the ball when Cecilio Lucero tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Cecilio Lucero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vânderson Furtado recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Doni Neiva came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the SUPERBOL fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Doni Neiva couldn't finish the play. Aílton Araújo came out of the goal in the 81st minute to try and stop a shot by SUPERBOL's Doni Neiva. But to his dismay, Doni Neiva quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Manfredo Correia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cecilio Lucero's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edinho Cabral read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 93rd minute of play. Doni Neiva recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 96th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
