Acarau AD's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Wiliam Maciel 13 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-0. In the 17th minute, Cruzeiro esporte clube's Hélio de Queirós seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Hélio de Queirós the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Cruzeiro esporte clube protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Hélio de Queirós had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 17th minute of the game. One of Cruzeiro esporte clube:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Acarau AD:s goal. Gilson Rodrigues placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! Dário Alcântara sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 21st minute, Geovanni Tróia made a precise shot to the right of Giovanni Dracena. Cruzeiro esporte clube's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Acarau AD's Diogo Cabral proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save Acarau AD from getting a goal against them. After 30 minutes, Pedro Luiz Mattos mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Acarau AD and the Cruzeiro esporte clube players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 30 played minutes Acarau AD got a freekick which was hit by Pedro Luiz Mattos. If Wiliam Maciel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 46 minutes into the match, Acarau AD's goal looked a bit too open when Wiliam Maciel came free, but Diogo Cabral reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wiliam Maciel in the 48th minute of play forced Acarau AD's goalkeeper Diogo Cabral to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Wiliam Maciel to make the kick off. In the 59th minute, Michel Urbano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Acarau AD getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Geovanni Tróia hit a great ball. 63 minutes into the match, Wiliam Maciel notched a goal, 3-2, to the right of Acarau AD's Diogo Cabral. Diogo Cabral was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Filipe Leal in the 68th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Diogo Cabral saved Acarau AD from getting behind. A collision led to Acarau AD getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Michel Urbano hit a great ball. Cruzeiro esporte clube made a substitution. Geovani Gaspar replaced Thiago Torres. Michel Urbano hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. Giovanni Dracena made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dário Alcântara in the 73rd minute. Wiliam Maciel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Kauã de Queiroz fell near the penalty area in the 76th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cruzeiro esporte clube's protests and gave Kauã de Queiroz a yellow card for diving instead. Acarau AD's Diogo Cabral played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wiliam Maciel in the 87th minute of play. The supporters of Cruzeiro esporte clube booed when Acarau AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Michel Urbano didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 94th match minute, Acarau AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pedro Luiz Mattos to maneuver through the defense. When the referee ended the match the Cruzeiro esporte clube players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
