Spectators: 6660 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1660, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Dalmo Rossi took the kick off in the first half of the match. In the 8th minute, Carlinhos Secco got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Carlinhos Secco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Juninho Damião tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ivo Quadros in the 15th minute of play forced Almesca's goalkeeper Edmílson Paulista to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Vito Lopez charged in rather forcefully in the 15th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Vito Lopez the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 15 played minutes Almesca got a freekick which was hit by Vito Lopez. Norberto de Lara kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. Juninho Damião took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dalmo Rossi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 28th minute, Luiz Gustavo Silveira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Eusébio Soeiro was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 29th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 34th minute of the match, Dalmo Rossi tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Juninho Damião saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Edmílson Paulista took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ivo Quadros, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 37th match minute, Almesca was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Percy Macedo to maneuver through the defense. If Pedro Luís Teixeira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ivo Quadros's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edmílson Paulista read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 40th minute of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ivo Quadros to make the kick off. In the 55th match minute, Almesca was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Percy Macedo to maneuver through the defense. Ivo Quadros received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Edmílson Paulista came out and tried to block the shot, but Ivo Quadros slotted it home off the left post making it 0-2 in the 57th minute. Pedro Luís Teixeira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edmílson Paulista having to interfere. Ivo Quadros was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 64th minute. Flamengo FC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. When Pedro Luís Teixeira came up free with the goalie in the 68th minute, the Flamengo FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pedro Luís Teixeira couldn't finish the play. Edmílson Paulista stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ivo Quadros's shot from short distance in the 71st minute. If Ivo Quadros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 79th minute, Flamengo FC's Ivo Quadros ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Edmílson Paulista. Edmílson Paulista yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-3. Ivo Quadros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edmílson Paulista having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ivo Quadros in the 93rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Edmílson Paulista saved Almesca from getting behind. The Almesca fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Flamengo FC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
