Laércio Hames showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. In the 19th minute the ball was on its way in behind Fluminense DF's goalkeeper Nuno Goiano, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Romário Quintal's late challenge caught a Solonopole SS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Romário Quintal helped the player get up and apologised. Romário Quintal hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. Nuno Goiano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Genílson Britto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Solonopole SS's Dionísio Mangueira in the 25th minute got a chance for a shot 25th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Cacá Soares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Laércio Hames's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cacá Soares read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 28th minute of play. Solonopole SS's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Laércio Hames 32 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 3-0. After a defensive mix-up in Fluminense DF's zone, Genílson Britto stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nuno Goiano came out of the goal and Genílson Britto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luís Gustavo Correia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cacá Soares having to interfere. A collision led to Solonopole SS getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Flavinho Arantes hit a great ball. 44 minutes into the match, Solonopole SS's goalkeeper Cacá Soares had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Luís Gustavo Correia. Luís Gustavo Correia could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 44th minute of the match, but Cacá Soares made a huge save.

After 56 minutes, Edson de Queiroz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Solonopole SS and the Fluminense DF players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 62nd minute Luís Gustavo Correia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cacá Soares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Genílson Britto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Dionísio Mangueira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cacá Soares stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Luís Gustavo Correia's shot from short distance in the 70th minute. 72 minutes into the match, Luís Gustavo Correia had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Cacá Soares. Solonopole SS's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luís Gustavo Correia was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. 79 minutes into the game, one of Solonopole SS:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Cacá Soares went to the wrong direction when Egídio de Castro was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. After a rather tough play, Solonopole SS's Edson de Queiroz got a free kick in the 82nd minute. In the 85th match minute, Solonopole SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ronaldão Monteiro to maneuver through the defense. In the 88th minute, Luís Gustavo Correia got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Laércio Hames had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee ended the match the Fluminense DF players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
