Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) In the 2nd minute Denílson Moraes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sidney Vargas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Vasco da Gama defense, Víktor Garcia kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sidney Vargas. The Vasco da Gama fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sidney Vargas should have stopped the shot. Evandro Veloso charged in rather forcefully in the 11th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Evandro Veloso the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Brusque's Evandro Veloso got a free kick in the 11th minute. Enio Cardozo, 12 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. After 13 played minutes Brusque got a freekick which was hit by Evandro Veloso. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Hernani Paraense during the 23rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Brusque booed when Vasco da Gama was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hernani Paraense didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sidney Vargas came out of the goal in the 24th minute to try and stop a shot by Brusque's Víktor Garcia. But to his dismay, Víktor Garcia quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. André Luís Fernandez could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 27th minute of the match, but Vladimir Cruz made a huge save. After 32nd play minutes André Luís Fernandez shot 1-2, a short shot which went by Vladimir Cruz and just under the crossbar into goal. In the 36th minute, Jeferson Koehler hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Enio Cardozo was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 37th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. After 40 minutes, Pedro Augusto Prestes made it 2-2 with a short kick to the right side. Brusque's Vladimir Cruz tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 46th minute the ball was on its way in behind Vasco da Gama's goalkeeper Sidney Vargas, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The first half was very even, with the score at 2-2 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

A collision led to Brusque getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Evandro Veloso hit a great ball. André Luís Fernandez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 56th minute, André Luís Fernandez got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 61st minute of the match Juan de Brito sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Sidney Vargas skillfully saved the ball. 72 minutes into the match, Cristian Leal sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because Sidney Vargas threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Cristian Leal this time. Vladimir Cruz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from André Luís Fernandez went, in the 75th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-3 was the resulting score. After a rather tough play, Brusque's Evandro Veloso got a free kick in the 77th minute. If André Luís Fernandez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by André Luís Fernandez in the 80th minute of play forced Brusque's goalkeeper Vladimir Cruz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Brusque's Vladimir Cruz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by André Luís Fernandez in the 84th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jacinto Eger during the 85th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 85th match minute, Vasco da Gama was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jacinto Eger to maneuver through the defense. Sidney Vargas stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Denílson Moraes's shot from short distance in the 87th minute. Víktor Garcia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Vasco da Gama players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
