But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Carlos Alberto Duarte couldn't finish the play. Carlos Alberto Duarte fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cauã Chaves having to interfere. Cássio Dracena showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wilton Meira, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. Carlos Alberto Duarte blasted a shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Cauã Chaves having to make a save. In the 22nd minute, Claudinei Loyola hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jean Fonseca received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Cauã Chaves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Carlos Alberto Duarte struck a weak shot in the 26th minute. Luís Gustavo Diniz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 37 minutes into the match, Jean Fonseca had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Cauã Chaves. Joanico's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jean Fonseca was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. In the 42nd match minute, Uruou was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lauro de Moraes to maneuver through the defense. Uruou's Richard Vaz got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Joanico players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Uruou were winning 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jean Fonseca to make the kick off. When Uruou's Lauro de Moraes in the 52nd minute got a chance for a shot 52nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Joanico's goalie prevented a goal. In the 70th match minute, Joanico was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Giovanni Tasso to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Carlos Alberto Duarte managed to get in a good position for a shot. Uruou's supporters rose to their feet, but Carlos Alberto Duarte was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cauã Chaves breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 74th minute, Jean Fonseca made a precise shot to the right of Cauã Chaves. Joanico's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3.
